Lone Gunmen vs The Collective on the Grassy Knoll 4/10/2005 00:52:24
When I heard talk of 'another Waco', I was instantly called to comment on one of my media pet peeves:
Why when it is a nutty fundamentalist Christian with delusions does something in the name of God, do we Americans scream 'It's a lone gunman.' But when some nutjob outside of Christianity does something bad in the name of their God, we shout about how it's the religion itself ~ and count the numbers of that faith that sit on the grassy knoll?
Why are David Koresh, Jim Jones, & even Charlie Manson exempt from their religion?
Yet, non-Christians are 'terrorists,' and are connected to other terrorists...
Here's an article comparing Japanese Kamikaze & Islamic Suicide Bombers. Why can't the USA see the similarities in Christians who are willing to give their lives in the name of God?
The manipulation of religion to motivate one to kill, to end lives, including their own, for the glory of heaven; the manipulation of religion to control ~ including fear & pain, sexual assaults; the cry of 'for the glory of God' before violence, this is legitimate in the eyes of the relgious fanatic.
And it is a delusional person, not the entire faith.
Belenios Ategnatos agrees with me about Religious Fanaticism:
"Freedom in the "West" exists in spite of, and even in response to, Christianity, not because of it. According to history, until a few hundred years ago, ever since the Roman Empire made it the established religion, Christianity enforced totalitarian thought control in every place where it predominated. It did so with the full power of the military behind it, and with the penalty of torture and death for any dissent. Does this sound familiar? Not much different from the Taliban during their reign in Afghanistan?"
Given Bush Lite's current views as our Savior, ought we not be concerned that this 'lone gunman' does indeed have others he can call to his grassy knoll?
Ask Iraq.
